           Meet your school counselor!

My name is Jenny Huckabay. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska. I have a husband of 17 years and three amazing kids. I’m a Henryetta Graduate and I received my associates in Pre-Ed from OSU, Bachelor’s from OU and have received my Master’s in School Counseling from SEOSU!

I have taught kindergarten for 2 years, 1 in Japan, 1st grade for 1 year and 2nd grade for 3 years! Before teaching, I was a community outreach coordinator, working with school districts to implement bully prevention, character education, and behavior rehabilitation services through a non-profit organization. I have a strong professional interest in empathy development and conflict resolution. I have a passion to help others succeed and strive to support our students with their social/emotional, academic and career development needs to assist them in reaching their utmost potential and thrive in their environment!

                    I love being a knight!

DEFINE

There are three standards for school counseling that make up the profession. These standards assist school counselors in assessing, developing and implementing their programs. These standards improve the outcomes of students that are taking part in the school counseling program.
MANAGE
The American School Counseling Association's (ASCA) National Model will guide this school counseling program by providing the tools and support needed in order to meet each student's needs for growth and success. Services will be implemented by both indirect and direct activities.

DELIVER
This ASCA component focuses on the methods used to meet the social/emotional, academic and career needs that are to be met through the school counseling program. The School counselor's schedule should add up to 80% reflecting the time spent in services, both indirect and direct.

ASSESS
To ensure the program's effectiveness, the school counselor is to regularly assess the student outcome as well as a self-reflection. This will allow changes and improvements to be made to best serve the students.
